Deaf Ministry

Please join us as we welcome the Rev. Mr. Kang as our guest preacher on Sunday, September 28, at our 10:30 a.m. worship. The Rev. Kang, who is deaf, will lead the worship in sign language. The service will be voiced for the hearing. Following worship, you are invited to a potluck dinner and time of fellowship. Fried, chicken, rolls, and drinks will be provided. Please bring a salad, vegetable, or dessert to share. Read about other Worship services for the Deaf.

Sunday School begins at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Besides classes for all hearing children beginning at age 3, we currently have a Sunday School class for young deaf children taught by Ramona Meester, a certified teacher of the deaf. The class is lead in American Sign Language (ASL). Pastor Meester also teaches a deaf adult Sunday School class, also in ASL.

Heritage Church also hosts meetings of various deaf groups such as the Southeast Nebraska Coalition of the Deaf, the Friends and Families of Deaf Children, the Lincoln Association of the Deaf, as well as other groups. If your group of deaf people needs a place to meet, please call the church for information.

Our deaf ministry is made possible by grants from Homestead Presbytery, the Synod of Lakes and Prairies, and the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A); and from the Mill Neck Foundation for Deaf Ministry.
