DUCs Sunday School

Sunday mornings are a time when we explore our faith in a variety of ways.  Whether it's playing a game, watching a movie, doing a craft project, or even cooking in the kitchen we are always discovering new ways to learn what it means to be Christian and more specifically, Presbyterian.

Some DUCs have completed confirmation (which is separate from Sunday School) and others have not, which means that there is a wide range of perspectives for our lively discussions.  Connecting biblical topics and stories to current events often helps connect schoolwork to faith.

The approach is casual and fun, but the discussions and insights are thought-provoking and educational.  Every Sunday is different so you never know what to expect!

DUCs in Worship and More!

DUCs are active in the church throughout the year.  Opportunities include assisting with communion, assisting with the visual tech, serving as ushers, singing in the chancel choir, playing in the bell choir, or providing special music.

Outside of worship they are serving on church committees, helping with the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Vacation Bible School as well as participating in church mission projects.
Whatever the interest, there's a way for youth to be actively involved at Heritage!

DUCs Mission Work

Picture
DUCs have an impact through mission work.  Our biggest annual mission project is the Souper Bowl of Caring, with over $5,700 raised since our initial participation.

On-going mission projects include:
  • collecting Box Tops for Education for Randolph Elementary
  • collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House in Omaha (9,700 donated in 2019!)
  • sending postcards to chronically and terminally ill children through the Send Kids the World postcard project
DUCs Mission: Making an Impact Serving Students In Our Neighborhood!

DUCs Fellowship

Fun activities vary from movies or church scavenger hunts to a wide assortment of games including:
  • Capture the Flag
  • Crusaders
  • Christians v. Romans
  • Human Battleship
  • 4-Square-in-the-Air
  • Christians in the Catacombs
  • Foosball
  • CLUE
  • True Colors, etc.
Popular events include the annual DUCs Lock-In as well as offsite weekend retreats held at locations like Calvin Crest Camp or Camp Ashland.
